Jonathan Goldsmith

A dramatization of the 2006 Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal, this final film from acclaimed indie director George Hickenlooper was honored with a 2010 Golden Globe Award nomination for lead actor Kevin Spacey as well as a posthumous Audience Choice Award for Hickenlooper at the 2010 St. Louis International Film Festival.

Heavy ‘60s and ‘70s era American and Latin jazz influences dominate Jonathan Goldsmith’s irony-inflected score, offering a playful almost trite counterpoint to the seriousness of the more contemporary subject matter. Manhattan Transfer-inspired jazz vocals seasoned with a dash of Tito Puente ("Signatures," "Pow Wow") and an ample helping of Lalo Schifrin ("The New Watergate," "Mightier than the Sword") make for one of the most original independent film scores in recent memory.
